(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Leader of the Islamist Movement of Ahrar al-Sham has placed the flag of the revolution next to him while he was delivering a speech on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. In a step the first of its kind for the faction considered one of the largest and most active military formations with "Islamic reference" in Syria.
The leader of the movement Ali al-Omar came to end years of debate on this particular faction about the right to raise the flag of the revolution and adopt it.
This marks a shift thinking in the movement and it has been said the senior leaders have died before they adopted it when they were killed in a bomb attack in 2014 during a meeting to discuss amendments on the course of the movement.
Al-Omar in his word called for the military factions to reshape the operational rooms and change the reality imposed on the ground".
The leader of the movement referred to the plans and dangers of the division that is being woven into Syria, the worst scenario of the continuous attempts to make a demographic change, and the realization of the "Shiite belt" project stretching from Tehran to the Mediterranean basin.
"Our people have suffered a lot from the promises among the components of the revolution, so they shouted at their enemies and denied them many of the causes of salvation that Allah has permitted for them, and the time of bidding has passed, and it has become the past. And this is a phrase that carries with it more than a message, and also more than a notice that the Ahrar al-Sham have gone through the change that they have been looking for and have been searching for years.
Ahrar has decided to take all necessary solutions to keep the Syrian revolution alive and to preserve the presence of the Sunnis during this difficult period and defend our revolution against all the dangers that beset it. We will make the necessary solutions to achieve this with the help of God," he said.
Al-Omar clearly stated that his movement needed to achieve its vision to "unite all the faithful elements of the Syrian revolution and its political, military and civilian institutions alike, both at home and abroad."
"We are now in the process of adopting advanced projects and solutions on the military, political and civil levels. We have adopted the amended unified Arab law as a step to unify the judiciary in the liberated areas. We see the need for a civil administration that is free from the factions and their legacy," he said.
He called on the other factions to "take the interest of the revolution and revive it by bold decisions," pledging that these factions of the "free" all the support and sacrifice.
Al-Omar stressed that the movement's priority now is "to preserve the Syrian people, who are revolutionary in all its components, and to defend their Islamic and Arab identity."
