(Zaman Al Wasl)- Abusing Syrian refugees photos which circulated by the Turkish social media have put the reputation of the country and its authorities at a new test, particularly with regard to the border guards treatment of Syrians crossing into Turkish territory.
The photographs, which were examined by Zaman al-Wasl were further evidence of the increasing frequency of violations by the Turkish border guards and the diversity of their methods which make it more of a systematic behavior rather than an individual violation against refugees.
It is true that the photograhps did not document beating or torture such as the video circulated few days ago, but the violation was to humiliate the dignity of the eastern man which both Turkey and Syria understand because they belong to a very close culture.
Several photographs of Tuesday's men showed a number of men standing next to a military vehicle and wearing colored underwear (panties, chest suspenders). The pictures of the men (the insulted men, the insulting man, the place of insult) Amid the talk that the pictures belong to the Syrians were humiliated in this way by the Turkish border guards.
Zaman al-Wasl did everything possible to verify the credibility of these images, and followed the sources in Turkish pages, it becomes clear to them that most of those pages and commentators agreed on the identity of the men who were insulted, and the insulting, but they differed on the description of the victims and on details of the story and its circumstances.
All of the sources said the photos belong to people who crossed from Syria to Turkish territory. Those who forced them to wear women's clothing and pictures of this disgraceful sight were Turkish soldiers. The story remained steadfast before the Turks split into two main categories: A group that said that the men who were in distress were simply refugees who had crossed into Turkey in search of safety, and another section described as terrorists who deserved their deserved punishment by the Turkish army, who foiled their infiltration.
People and pages who confirmed that the men are not refugees, provided their account in more detail and said that the incident took place on the border near the Turkish area of Yildagi, and that the border guards ordered the men to open their bags and when they found women's clothing, they forced them to wear them and then photographed them.
The scrutiny of some of the pictures reveals that the underwear that men were forced to wear is entirely new, in terms of the stickers that are still attached to them.
Whatever the correct narrative about the pictures, it is almost identical and the testimony of the Turks themselves that those who have been humiliated are Syrian and that the perpetrator is also the Turkish border guards. This requires the Turkish government to be more bold and transparent and to implement the principle of deterrent accounting in this case before it swells and turns into a time bomb that is difficult to defuse officials themselves and they are talking about the Turkish officials have warned against parties that want to sow discord between the Turks and Syrians.
