Iran's officials defend Hezbollah-ISIS deal during Eid Prayers

(Zaman Al Wasl) Al-Nujba'a militia, which is fighting alongside Bashar al-Assad, said it held Eid prayers at its headquarters, the Second Brigade Camp in Damascus.

The militia led by Akram al-Kaabi, in his capacity as the Secretary-General, said the prayer was led by “Mr Abbas al-Moussavi, the representative of the Secretary-General in Iran”.

In conjunction the Eid celebrations, al-Moussavi paid a visit to Ayatollah Ali Muhammad al-Maski who heads the so-called Jaafari Islamic Council in Syria.

The militia posted pictures of its mercenaries performing Eid prayer performed in Damascus, as well as footage of al-Moussavi's visit to al-Maski.

The militia channel broadcasted part of al-Moussavi's speech in which he declared his full support for the Hezbollah militia and its leader in the face of the sharp criticism the latter received from politicians and even Iraqi militia members after concluding a deal with the Islamic State forces. The between the Hezbollah militia and the Islamic State forces dictated the Islamic State militias be allowed to move from Qalamoun in Damascus countryside to the eastern part of Syria.

Al-Moussavi described critics of the Hezbollah militia and its leader as part of the “American-Zionist machine”. He said that the militia’s deal with the “terrorists” includes military and political interests that “common people” could not understand.

The repercussions of the deal between Hezbollah and the organization reached the point of scandal especially after the militia issued an official statement expressing deep concern over the fate of the Islamic State fighters and their families who were evacuated from Qalamoun.

Al-Nujba’a is one of dozens of militias fighting in Syria which have been armed, trained and financed by Iran. Its members were sent to support the al-Assad regime forces in killing Syrians under the pretext of “protecting [Shiite] shrines” and “fighting the takfiris”.
