Sectarian Banner in Istanbul protests by Turkish Alawites

Number of Turkish demonstrators carried a sectarian banner in Taksim square for the first time. "Democracy and Nature have been slaughtered by force, we should look for who killed the Alawites, with alleged photo to Imam Al-Hussein the grandson of Islamic prophet Muhammad. who is highly regarded by both the Shia and the Sunni as a martyr because he refused to pledge allegiance to Yazid, the Umayyad caliph.

The protesters told Zaman Alwasl that their frustration in response to a decision was made by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to rename one of Istanbul'  bridges, 'Yavuz Sultân Selim' who killed thousands of the Alawite sect during the reign of the Ottoman Empire.

The protesters added: this name is controversial, it implies a sectarian message in Turkey, so we are against it.
