(Eqtsad)- Local initiates and civil society associations in Raqqa are working on removing earth mounds, trenches and the effects of war from the streets of the western towns and villages of Raqqa, while agricultural land is still waiting for similar projects for owners to cultivate and reinvest.
“Together for our town to be more beautiful” project manager Bashar al-Khalaf said the project workers have completed the transfer of 1,850 cubic meters of garbage, the settlement construction of 3535 meters of earth mounds and the filling of 1720 meters of trenches dug in the towns and villages of the project within one month.
Al-Khalaf added in a statement to Eqtsad that they worked to provide the villages with garbage containers and drew murals on the walls of schools and buildings in order to make people aware of the importance of cleanliness.

He pointed out that the work area of the project is divided into three divisions. The first includes the villages of Ja'bar Gharbi, Jabar Sharqi, and Swaidiye Saghira. The second includes the town of Mahmudli and its villages Haryan Ayn al-Ward, al-Sunaa, and al-Hathut. The third includes the villages of Hadaj and al-Tarqa.
The project manager explained in every division, they deployed agricultural tractor and a few workers ranging from 3 to 6 workers and facilities workers, and bulldozer working two days a week.
According to the manager, the project began on 21/10/2017 and continues to 21/1/2018. The most important of the project is the establishing of "Together for Jurnia", the service working in the area of Jurnia west of Raqqa, which came out of control of Islamic State at the end of 2016.

The residents expressed their satisfaction with the projects in the targeted villages in the western countryside to remove the effects of the war. They called for expanding their activities to include some of the neighboring and damaged villages such as al-Swaidiye al-Kabira, al-Wdyan, Humaryn, Bayoud, Beer al-Sunna which witnessed fierce battles between Islamic State and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militias a few months ago.
The berms and trenches built in the area of agricultural land remain a major obstacle to the work of farmers in re-cultivating and investing their rainfed and irrigated lands alongside the scattered mines, and residents hope for these to be included in such projects.
It is noteworthy that (SDF) militias took control of the entire city of Raqqa last mid-October last after about 4 months of fighting with the Islamic State backed by the International Coalition forces.
