Massive explosion hits pipeline in Syria’s Tal Kalakh

A massive explosion hit an oil pipeline outside the Syrian town of Tal Kalakh on Friday night amid the fighting that has raged in the region near the border along Lebanon’s northern Akkar region, Now news reported.

The oil pipeline from Homs to Tartus was blown up in town of Al-Zara outside Tal Kalakh and flames can be seen from Lebanon's Wadi Khaled, Lebanon's state National News Agency reported.

Meanwhile, Syrian Oil Minister Suleiman Abbas said a pipeline southeast of Damascus had been blown up.

"Terrorists targeted the Arab oil pipeline in the Al-Baytariya region [on outskirts] of Damascus, causing a huge fire and a gas outage," he said according to Now news.

"Maintenance and repair teams headed to the location of the attack to control the fire and isolate the damaged section from the pipeline."
