(Zaman Al Wasl)- Eight Syrian refugee children, mostly family members, lost their lives when a fire tore through their camp in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley on Thursday, head of Syrian refugees affairs commission told Zaman al-Wasl.
Abdul Rahman Akkari told Zaman al-Wasl in a phone call that fire broke out due to short-circuit.
Photos showed the blaze had virtually razed the camp.
Gaza camp in the western Bekaa has been home to 30 families where a total of 361,104 registered Syrian Refugees living in the Valley.
Three Syrian refugee women were also killed last week in a fire tore through a Benin Akkar refugee camp.
Lebanon is hosting at least 1 million registered Syrian refugees, many of them living in tented settlements scattered around the country. The government says that in total there are about 1.5 million Syrians in Lebanon.
