Activists from association cares for 10,000 displaced in Northern Homs

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A group of local of activists in   in the northern countryside of central Homs province have established an independent civilian body to improve the displaced living conditions.

More than 10,000 displaced families in the northern countryside of central Homs province have been suffering from the regime-imposed siege amid shortage in humanitarian aid and lack in the basic needs and medical supplies.

The main objective of the association was the need for an entity that regulates the issues of displaced persons and their relationship with service agencies working in the countryside of Homs, the northern and outside it, and try to find an entity linking the displaced themselves and takes care of their affairs and provide services to them in various walks of life, cultural, educational, medical and relief. 

The ​​the association project began in March 2016 as a continuation and expansion of what was known as the "Grand House Committee for the Care of the Displaced". The idea developed in the ninth month, and according to activist Suleiman Abu Yassin, To include several activists covering various parts of the northern Homs countryside.

The team of the Association consists of a Board of Directors consisting of 7 members who are responsible for management, public relations, financial affairs, follow-up and media. There, according to Abu Yassin, delegates are spread throughout the northern Homs countryside, estimated at 30 volunteers.

The number of people living in the northern Homs countryside is about 300,000 people, including about 10,000 displaced families. About 50,000 people have been displaced from all areas of Homs starting from Baba Amr neighborhood to Al-Wa'ar neighborhood and other neighborhoods.
