The Assad regime has circulated news about the imminent victory on what it calls “terrorists” before the end of Geneva II talks in regime-held areas of Aleppo,.
Many people in Aleppo told Zaman Alwasl that they heard soldiers on barriers
talking about this issue and that regime is going to win Aleppo’s front.
Om
Mohamed, an old lady from Al-serian neighbourhood, told Zaman Alwasl: “I was
waiting at a barrier near Tishreen kindergarten, where I heard an officer
giving people waiting to the barriers a so called “a lecture” talking about the
near wining of the battle against the conspiracy and terrorists before Geneva
talks finish, and said that the leadership is clear and strict in achieving
that goal.”
A
university student has reported a similar event in Omar Abo Risheh’s
roundabout, , where an army officer insisted on regime’s strict and direct
orders to win Aleppo battle before the end of Geneva talks between regime and
the opposition, mentioning the use of barrel bombs against who has named
“Hamad’s dogs” meaning the civilians and rebels
More
than 800 have been killed in Aleppo, the economic hub and second city in Syria
since the beginning of Geneva 2 conference, by barrel bomb raids and other air
strikes, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
Aleppo
has been divided since the rebels captured large areas of the city in an
offensive in the summer of 2012.
Syria's
nearly three-year conflict began as popular protests against four decades of
Assad family rule but changed into armed insurgency under a security force
crackdown.
Now
Syria is in a full-scale civil war that has killed more than 136,000 people and
forced over 6 million - more than a quarter of the population - to flee their
homes.
Syrian
opposition said there had been an escalation in the government's use of
"barrel bombs" - oil drums or cylinders packed with explosives and
metal fragments and usually dropped from helicopters
It
worth mentioning that regime’s media has adopted the conspiracy theory to refer
to the Syrian Revolution, and claimed the very near beating it from the first
month. Moreover, regime’s media gave the revolution many names, such as “the
petro-dollar revolution” or “Wahabi Grandsons’ revolution”, which has been face
with sarcasms by the opposition. Translation by Yusra Ahmed
