15 ISIS fighters surrender to regime in Deir Ezzor

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 25 Daesh militants and their families have surrendered to to the US-backed Kurdish forces in eastern Deir Ezzor province, local activists said Saturday.

The militants have agreed to lay down their arms, in a rare move by the harlinder militants.

The YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces have seven prisons in eastern Syria where about 1000 ISIS fighters are behind bars.

The SDF, which the Kurdish YPG militia spearheads, has been the main partner of the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State in Syria, helping drive the jihadists out of swathes of northern and eastern Syria last year.

Daesh lost most of its territory in Syria last year, but retained some remote desert areas and has attacked the army and allied forces in recent weeks.  

ISIS fighters on Friday have attacked regime bastion east of Deir Ezzor city, killing and wounding dozen, Amaq reported.

The group's news agency said five 'Inghimasi' fighters, or infiltrators, had attacked the army checkpoint in al-Hasarat village north of Albu Kamal city. One of them has been killed.

Daesh has launched another attack on regime forces in the Syrian desert, known as Badiya, using a blast.
