(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syria's second largest oilfield has been operating again after almost one year since the US-backed Kurdish forces took the oil-rich area from Daesh in eastern Syria, satellite images showed.
The Tanak oilfield, which contains about 150 wells, fell under the control the Syrian Democratic Forces last November after fierce clashes with Daesh at the eastern Bank of Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor province.
The oilfield is located near the border with Iraq with a production line up to 40,000 barrels per day (B/D).
Sources say the SDF is supplying the Syrian regime with the crude oil of al-Tanak field.
Many of Syria's most productive oil fields - including al-Omar- largest oilfield in Syria- al-Tanak, Ward, Afra, Kewari, Jafra, Jarnuf, Azrak, Kahar, Sueytat and Galban are under the SDF control east of Euphrates River.
The YPG-ed forces took most of oil fields from Daesh in a year of major offensive which has been backed by the US-led coalition airstrikes.
