Violent explosions rock ISIS's stronghold east Syria as infighting continues

Violent explosions rocked the city of Tal Abyad border with Turkey on Friday night, the blast was caused by an attempt to target the State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) headquarters in the town’s church with RBJ missiles fired by unknown assailants, Activists said.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion took place in ISIS’s, killing and wounding a number of jihadists.

The Operation comes as part of a series of operations carried out by units of rebels and al-Nusra Front since ISIS’s has taken full control on Raqqa governorate Mid-January of the current year after fierce battles between the two sides.

During the period that followed, many operations against ISIS continued to occur in Raqqa governorate and its cities and towns.

The Turkish authorities closed Tal Abyad border, after ISIS seized control over it and deployed a number of tanks, armored vehicles and soldiers at the gate.

In a related context, fierce battles are continuing near the salt mines in the western countryside of Deir al-Zour between ISIS on one hand and al-Nusra Front’s rebels on the other hand.

According to sources in the battle, there is a tip in the balance against ISIS where they summoned reinforcements to back them in the mines.

If the rebels and al-Nusra Front seize control over the mines, that means that the ISIS is out of the entire city of Deir-al Zour, Activists confirm.
