A
well-informed source reported to Zaman Alwasl that Col. Abdel Jabbar Al Aqidi
will be the top military figure for the opposition in coming period, according to
European and Saudi will in particular.
Al Aqidi has a good reputation within the
armed opposition and Islamic parties, besides his military experience on the
ground, some activists said.
The
source carried on explaining that current situation is not in good position,
therefore there is a need for new balance, and the solution may be Al Akidi,
especially at the deterioration of community's support for the Islamic Front.
The
source mentioned that Al Aqidi tends to form a National Army with National
theme, that coincided with the desire of supporting and neighboring countries
of Syria to end the Princes of War phenomena through gathering and organizing
efforts under a governmental umbrella, no matter how much disagreement about
it.
The
source highlighted that new National Army is different from what Ahmad Jarba,
the head of National Coalition, mentioned earlier. The plan is to start with
500 fighter to raid and control areas, to be trained abroad, then the number
will be increased to 2000 within 90 days, according to Asaad Mustafa, the
Defense Minister who was excited about the new project, opposite Salim Idris,
who tried to put many obstacles in achieving it.
The
same source mentioned deep disagreement between Mustafa and Idris about the
project, that led Mustafa to hand his resignation to Ahmad Jarba, and then
withdrew it under pressure.
Abdel
Jabbar Al Aqidi and his group will start a professional tour in European and
Gulf countries to establish the National Army and fulfil its training, as hopes
are hanged on it to save Aleppo from Regime and princes of war.
Meanwhile
the Syrian death toll rose to 140,000 people, over 7,000 of them children, the
Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Saturday.
Syria's
nearly three-year conflict began as popular protests against four decades of
Assad family rule but changed into armed insurgency under a security force
crackdown.
