Daoud brigade with other eight rebel groups have agreed to form al-Sham Army (The Levant Army) in Idlib province and north Syria, sources told Zaman Alwasl.
Army of the
Levant does not affiliated any faction or front within the country or outside.
The aim of such a move is to unify Al Mujahideen ranks and focus on the primary
goal for which Jihadist are fighting for to eliminate injustice and live in
peace, according to the sources.
Daoud
fighters, who have pledged allegiance to the State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS),
issued a statement on January 21 calling for an end to fighting among rivals.
The group
said it had reached a "partial solution to end the bloodshed in the
eastern suburbs of Idlib" through a ceasefire with other rebels and a
renewed focus on fighting the government, according to Reuters.
Many foreign
fighters, who defected ISIS, had joined Daoud brigade in its stronghold of
Sarmeen in Idlib while the ‘State’ loyalists had left to Raqqa.
Nearly 2000
people have been killed in Syria since clashes between rebel forces and ISIS erupted early January,
NGO’s said.
