Daraa: rebels attack regime army checkpoints in Al-Sanamayn

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Popular Resistance on Sunday launched an attack on the checkpoints of the Syrian regime  forces in the southern town of Al-Sanamayn, leaving dozen killed and wounded, the rebel group said.

The dawn attack marks an end to false reconciliations deals in southern Syria, according to activists.

The new alliance of rebels’ factions in southern Daraa province has promised to escalate its operations against Bashar al-Assad’s forces, vowing more guerrilla attacks in the coming days.

On Friday, the Popular Resistance killed two regime troops, including an officer.

The new tactic of rebels in Daraa followed a humiliating reconciliation deal, which reached due to the upper hand Bashar al-Assad and key allies Russia, Iran and Hezbollah, in addition to the regional pressure to end the 8-year-old war.

Friday’s attack took place in the town of Jassim in the western countryside, the rebel group said.

More than 125,000 pro-regime forces have been killed in seven years of brutal war, according to local monitoring groups.

Since the Syrian revolution erupted in 2011, more than 470,000 people have been killed, and more than 6 million people have been displaced.
