(Zaman Al Wasl)- A seven-month-old refugee girl died of severe cold and due to lack of heating materials in northern Syria, activists said Wednesday.
Yassin al-Hussein, father of Maryam, said his baby girl died of cold and malnutrition in the al-Naser camp at the Turkish border.
"We do not have fireplace, even though, we can not buy fuel or firewood," he added.
As the Syrian regime and key allies say the war is over, thousands of Syrian refugees who are scattered among the borders and in makeshift camps still feel they are neglected and abandoned.
They are desperate and in utter despair, these families are left struggling to survive, aid groups say.
The powerful winter storms have swept the Syrian refugees camps across the Turkish and the Iraqi border, worsening conditions for those who have fled the war.
The torrential rain and strong winds have lashed most displaced areas in eastern provinces of Deir Ezzor and Hasaka and in northern Idlib province and parts of Hama province.
Since the Syrian revolution erupted in 2011, more than 560,000 people have been killed, and more than 6 million people have been displaced.
