(Zaman Al Wasl)- Forty-two judges in Suweida have filed a lawsuit against a man uncovered corruption in the judiciary and the security services in the southern Druze-dominated province, accusing him of "defaming and undermining the the state."
In a meeting held at the cultural center in Sweida few weeks ago, Yahya Abu Raid said in front of the governor and Baath Party officials that the main responsibility of the security committee in Suweida is to play its role against kidnapping gangs as more than 178 cases reported.
Abu Raid has accused senior intelligence officers of colluding with the gangs.
The security committee in Sweida did not arrest any member of kidnappers, he added.
According to video surfaced on social media, Abu Raid accused Mohammed Bro, Colonel in the Air Force Intelligence, of being behind the drug dealing and the arms trade, adding that the security services are the ones who facilitate this trade.
According to activists, vehicles loaded with all kinds of weapons, ammunition, fuel and drugs have a ‘free pass’ through regime army checkpoints in southern Syria.
'Sweida 24' news site reported that the National Security Office, led by powerful Major General Ali Mamluk is to interfere to hold perpetrators accountable, including security officers, amid the mounting anger by residents nas top clerics in the Druze community.
The city of Sweida has largely been spared most of the violence that Syrian cities have witnessed in the years since the conflict started in 2011.
