Legal procedures are being taken against 52 charity organizations operating under Islamic names in Al Mafraq city in Jordan, on charges of corruption and abuse of trust.
The 52 are of total 72 charity organization operating in Jordan to provide aid to Syrian refuges, an activist said.
What was practiced secretly by these charitable organizations is now stolen in the broad daylight, with no censorship or control.
In one incident, a Qatari man donated to one of these organizations (N, Q) an amount of 300 thousand dinars (a thousand dollar is equal to about 700 dinars) for the purchase of chickens to be distributed on Syrian refugees in the city. He added.
The organizations’ officials bought a quantity of this material and removed the labels that refer to the expiry date, and replaced it with unexpired ones and then distributed them on ten Syrian families in the city.
Because perfect crime doesn’t exist, the royal censorship committee in an inspection tour, scanned by coincidence one of these material to discover that it was expired.
The committee who bought this material in addition to its president was taken to the corruption court and they are being imprisoned for more than three weeks.
Legal actions or closures for corruption charges were not only taken against this organization but for others too. He added.
In this context, the Secretary General in the ministry of social development Ms. Dima Khlifat said that the ministry has taken many charitable organizations to court due to violations in their work.
And in a meeting that included heads of charity organizations in Al Mafraq city, she said that the investigation is still in progress to determine whether these organizations are involved or not, and asked those interested to provide the ministry with documented violations with data against any abusers to take legal action against them.
The number of charitable organization in Jordan reached 3800 including 230 In Al mafraq city alone, and 200 have been dissolved for violations of regulations and laws in force inside the Hashemite kingdom of Jordan. Sources reported.
