(Zaman Al Wasl)- One civilian has been killed and dozen wounded by regime shelling in northern Idlib province Sunday, local activists said.
The artillery fire struck the town of Khan Sheikhoun, marking a week of daily bombardmet in the southern countryside.
At least 20 civilians were killed in regime airstrikes on Khan Sheikhoun town in the past ten days.
Idlib has been hit by sporadic regime shelling for weeks despite the buffer zone deal between Russia and Turkey.
Six children killed Friday in Maarrat al-Nu'man when the regime forces hit the town with cluster bombs, Idlib Media Center reported.
Turkey, which backs moderate Syrian rebels, and Russia, the regime's principal foreign ally, agreed in September to create a demilitarised zone in northwest Idlib region that would be evacuated of all heavy weapons and hardline fighters.
A blast also rocked the city of Idlib Sunday, leaving four people wounded. Activists said the blast was attributed to a bomb rigged to a motorcycle.
Idlib city is under the control of Hayat Tahrir al Sham, a bloc of Islamist militant factions spearheaded by Syria’s former al Qaeda affiliate, and has long been targeted by bombings and assassinations.
Twin explosions in the bustling center of Idlib city on Monday killed at least 17 people and injured scores, medics and witnesses told Reuters.
They said an explosive device planted in a parked car detonated in a main street in the provincial capital. Many of the casualties were civil defense workers who reached the site moments before a second explosion nearby. That blast was also attributed to a bomb rigged to a motorcycle.
Since the Syrian revolution erupted in 2011, more than 560,000 people have been killed, and more than 6 million people have been displaced.
