Germany: two refugee brothers set up courier company

The two Syrian refugee brothers Ibrahim and Riadh al-Jiran did not want to depend only on the asylum social benefits granted to Syrian refugees in Germany, so they tried to prove themselves with their ambition and desire to achieve success and uniqueness in their new society.

They established a transportation postal and Courier Company and named it “Elias Trans”, based in Bad Cannstatt, in Stuttgart province south Germany.

The company was able to compete with many big companies in Germany.

The two brothers, Ibrahim, 24 years old, and Riadh, 23 years old, were living in Manbij, Syria.

Due to the circumstances of the war, they have sought refuge in November 2011 to Turkey then to Germany.

They went in a safe trip through illegal boats to live at Ellwangen refugee camp. Three months later they moved to a small, lifeless village with no jobs, and then they moved to Stuttgart.

After finishing the German language course, they looked for work to secure their living.

The elder brother Ibrahim told Eqtsad that he worked as a distributor in the German post deutsche post on a bicycle at the beginning of his escape.

Afterwards, he left the job when he felt he was less than ambitious and went to look for another job in the same area. He said that they knew the owner of an Italian company and worked with him as drivers.

The younger brother, Riadh, intervened in the conversation to indicate that they knew during the experiment the nature of the work that they had any idea of before. He explained that their mastery of the German language was the key to the success.

After six months of work, the two brothers decided to open their own company, and began implementing their project early last year.

Ibrahim al-Jiran said he managed to buy three Van cars with his brother by borrowing from banks, but they lost about 13 thousand Euros and returned to scratch. Then their uncle visited them and encouraged to get up again.

They we were able to permanently contract with the German Post Company as the younger two young refugees working in this sector.

Riadh pointed out that the company's work is to transfer letters and emails from the headquarters to the provinces.

The company currently has two lines, one in Stuttgart and one in Frankfurt.

For his part, Ibrahim pointed out that the German Postal Corporation gave the company a trial contract for a month, and when it proved its worth got a permanent contract.

He explained that his work in the distribution of letters and parcels is concentrated between the city salach to Esslingen am Neckar in Stuttgart, a relatively large city.

He said that the secret of success in his work with his brother is the speed of keeping sites and good dealing with customers, because in the end they represent Syria. So, they seek to present a clear picture of the Syrians' enthusiasm, activity and dedication to work despite the conditions of war and asylum.

He did not deny the difficulties in the German labor market, especially for the Syrian refugees, including the lack of facilities or support for project owners of Syrian refugees by the German government, the hard procedures and the offenses imposition for no reason and crackdown on the owners Projects, along with racism against all that is not German and especially against the Arabs.
