Sweida's Kitchen, a simple initiative by a former detainee in Assad prisons who’s from Sweida, located in Harasta, most volunteers who work in are from Sweida as well.
For more explanation, Laila, an activist, and a supervisor in Sweida kitchen said: “the kitchen has been working for two months, it is just a simple initiative where activists collect donations to buy primary ingredients to cook food and distribute it to cover 250 families in need in Harasta"
Most fund comes from personal donations of Sweida’s people and overseas Syrians, according to the activist.
“as a result of high prices, people became unable to offer for their minimal needs of food, therefore, we thought of founding the kitchen, as we are in contact with rebels who are able to bypass the siege of al-Ghouta” Laila added.
The supervisor details that food is prepared from a affordable ingredients but rich in nutrients as well, like rice, bulgur and legumes, hoping to be able to cover as many people in need as possible. In future.
Laila sees in that simple initiative a solid proof of the unity between people in Ghouta and Sweida, “they are all Syrians” summarizes.
Laila details that the cost is about S.P 1500 for one kind of cooking daily, she explains that high cost resulted from the high prices of ingredients.
