Leaked Intelligence Report admits Rebels Control: Syria

Translation by Dani Murad

For the past 3 years, Syria's revolution has continued to rage with significant changes in territorial control and areas of fighting, and amid the many reports of influence and control, regime’s intelligence leaked reports represent the most accurate information of regime’s losses.

Zaman Al Wasl republishes a new leaked report , talking about rebels’ control over Syria’s geographical areas, and even though published mid-last year, this report gives a clear insight on the evolution of fighting and territorial control until the beginning of this year.

The report which is the latest in reports directed from the (General Intelligence Directorate) to the (General Security Directorate) explains in details the situation of security and services in Syrian governorates with a clear explicit recognition of FSA control over vast areas of Syria, with the exception of Tartous’s report which did not exceed 15 words and Sweida’s ,where it was mentioned that the city doesn’t have rebels in it.

The report emphasizes greatly on the city of Homs and its countryside with the largest report amounting to 723 words, which indicates the great importance the regime pays to this city because of its crucial strategic location as a connecting area between the Syrian cities.

In the report, the general intelligence admits that FSA rebels control all parts of Raqqa city, with the exception of Tabqa airport, Division 17 headquarter which is located 2 km from the city.

However, the odd thing about the report is that it doesn’t provide any information about Al-Hasakah because all means of communications are disconnected , and no security reports have been submitted since a month about the city which is controlled by armed men and PKK, mostly in the rural areas especially in the oilfields.

Moreover, the report also shows that availability of services is linked to the presence of regime, while the liberated areas are deprived from all kinds of services and life necessities.

The narrative style of the report also shows that intelligence is the sole source for pro-regime media, and its drafting and method of writing makes the reader feel as if he is watching a bulletin on Al Dunia TV or any other Pro-regime TV.
These reports are largely supportive of regime’s killed soldiers calling them “Martyrs”, mentioning at least two every time , while demonizing rebels and accusing them of being “terrorists “ or “armed gangs”.

And when these reports describe the special operations conducted by regime’s forces, they mention at least tens of these "terrorists" with their names either killed, escaped or arrested.
