(Zaman Al Wasl)- Amid a rubble-filled cave, a brigadier general of the regime points to a clean, glossy plastic suit, as overwhelming evidence of the rescuing White Helmets’ use of chemical weapons in cooperation with the former al-Qaeda group in Syria.
The suit, untouched by dust unlike everything else in the cave, was irrefutable proof of the involvement of Syria Civil Defense in "acting the chemical play" and accusing Assad’s army, as claimed by the regime and by Brigadier General Abdul Karim Mayhon, on the media that was called to photograph the cave and document its contents.
Mayhon searched for the plastic suit to show that it was manufactured in the United Kingdom. He also pulled out an almost torn, dusty gas mask in front of the cameras, as to provide further evidence of the involvement of the White Helmets.
The regime seems to have overlooked the fact that this same evidence can implicate it, and that the White Helmets sought to acquire these equipment (if, in fact, they belong to them) in order to protect civilians from possible attacks.
Mayhon claimed that the whole cave was booby-trapped, and that his forces needed a whole day to dismantle everything, but at the same time saying they did not move anything in the cave, leaving it as it is for the world to see.
Mayhon kept mentioning al-Nusra Front, even saying that the White Helmets were associated with them. While the video showed a destroyed vehicle with the Army of Glory’s logo printed on it, without providing an explanation for the presence of a vehicle belonging to this faction in the heart of a cave that supposedly belonged to al-Nusra Front.
Remarkably, the video clip published by Russia Today is almost completely different from that of Euronews. The Russia Today report was loaded propaganda. However the Euronews network, the image of the suit and the protective mask were merely shown in passing, without attaching any words from the brigadier general except the mention of al-Nusra Front.
Over the past years, the regime has prepared a number of "skits" to prove its innocence and the existence of "plays" prepared by the opposition to falsely accuse it and tarnish its image, only to end up proving the extent of its involvement in fabrication and misinformation.
Eight years of war in Syria have killed 560,000 people and driven half the pre-war population of 22 million from their homes, including more than 6 million as refugees to neighbouring countries.
