Through his realistic paintings, refugee artist Mahmoud Ezzeddine documents aspects of Homs' cultural and heritage landmarks destroyed by the war, including those still struggling to remain standing. This city, which is deeply entrenched in history, has been systematically destroyed by the regime forces.
The artist , who currently lives in Riverside, CA in the USA, documented the features of the city of Homs with colors, saying that in his alienation the longing and nostalgia led him to pay attention to the beauty of his city.
He stated that the impact of the war on him as an artist is reflected in his paintings, in the influences on time and place. "I am part of the place affected and influenced by it. I feel its sorrows and joys deeply… For me, Homs, with all its neighborhoods and streets, is a place where I have friends whom I cherish and miss."
