(Zaman Al Wasl)- Head of State Intelligence in southern Ankhel town was killed by Syrian rebels on Monday, local activists said.
Major. Mohamed Jabbour, originally from Bashar al-Assad’s Qerdaha town, was assassinated by a sniper bullet in the key town of Daraa province.
Jabbour was a notorious security officer who committed war crimes against detainees.
Last September, the head of the Air Force Intelligence in Daraa province found dead.
Colonel Soleiman Hammoud died of a heart attack in his home, according to the initial reports.
Activists doubted the death reason, saying the 'young' officer may have been assassinated.
More than 130,000 pro-regime forces have been killed since the armed conflict erupted eight years ago with the brutal repression of protests against al-Assad, according to local monitoring groups.
Eight years of war in Syria have killed 560,000 people and driven half the pre-war population of 22 million from their homes, including more than 6 million as refugees to neighbouring countries.
