(Zaman Al Wasl)- After escaping the regime’s detention centers, Mohammed Al-Issa, a researcher at German universities, was honored last year by the Immigration Department in Hesse as one of the top 20 academics of foreign origins for his research into the field of radiation cancer treatment.
Al-Issa established an association, “Malik”, named after his 'martyr' brother, which aims to support foreign students in Germany, especially Syrian refugees, and help them expand their academic and professional experience.
After the outbreak of the revolution, al-Issa dropped out of work and study and was subjected to a 46-day detention on April 10, 2013, in military security on charges of supporting the revolution. He was fired and harassed and so he decided to move to Jordan.
Shortly after his stay in Jordan, the young student moved to Germany with a student visa to work on his Doctorate.
From 2016 to 2018, the young researcher participated in a number of international conferences as lecturer.
“Malik” organizes lectures for foreign students in Germany on available grants in the country and how to get them. Many of the students who have already received grants and admission seats, especially in medical schools, are Syrian.
The association is also interested in solving the problems of students housing, for example, or those who have problems with their universities, especially in the region where al-Issa resides. He said that the association is currently trying to communicate with scientific institutions in addition to the University of Giessen in this regard.
Al-Issa revealed that he has a project, currently under preparation, to support the education of girls in scientific and technical specializations such as physics, chemistry, natural sciences and information engineering.
