Explosive device kills two civilians in Deir Ezzor

An improvised explosive device (IED) rocked a crowd of people protesting against Kurdish-led forces in eastern Deir Ezzor Province, leaving two civilians dead, local activists said Tuesday.

The IED was set off in the town of al-Basirah in the northern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

The residents were demanding the release of detainees held by the YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces and the US-led Coalition.

Also in Deir Ezzor, activists on Tuesday said pro-Iran militias had committed the third massacre against civilians in retaliation to the killing of Iran's second man in a U.S. airstrike ten days ago.

The village of Ayyash has mourned seven people said they were slaughtered by Iranian militants.

Activists said the gruesome crimes were in retaliation to the death of Qassem Soleimani, the former leader of Quds Force and all Shiite militias in Syria, who was killed two weeks ago in a U.S. airstrike near Baghdad's airport along with top Shiite militants.

The Shiite militants beheaded six shepherds last Friday in northern Aleppo province, four days after the Raqqa massacre that left 21 dead.

All the Shiite militias are working under the command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), led by Suleiman Rezaei, nicknamed ‘The Iranian’.

In December, Iran-backed militias mobilized in the Syrian Desert, known as Badiya, near the historic city of Palmyra, al-Sukhna, the al-Talila area, and the Hail oil field.

The civil war in Syria began in early 2011 when the Assad regime cracked down on protestors with unexpected ferocity, which led to hundreds of thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions.
