Syrians detained in Saudi Arabia call National Coalition for help

200 Syrians detained in expatriate prison in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, requested via a letter Zaman Alwasl obtained, the National Coalition to help them to get released on immanence sponsorship, till they manage to get valid passports or fix their situation with the immigration.

In their letter, detainees mentioned that closing the Syrian Embassy in Riyadh had made things worse as they were not able to renew their passports, and some of them might stay in prison until further notice.

They described their situation as “a tragedy” and they wondered how some people can be forced to return to their country, while it has been under war and heavy killing.

The letter requested from Jarba to meet with decision making people in Saudi Arabia like prince Salman bin Abdulaziz or Prince Mikren Bin Abdulaziz, and wished they can explain their situation and manage to stop their deportation. The letter mentioned that there were more than 100 one wanted by the Syrian regime.

The letter explained that some deportees have families and were not able to go to their families in Jordan, as Syrian deported from Saudi Arabia are not allowed to enter Jordan.

Moreover, many of the detained Syrians have been unemployed for long period of time, and have no money to travel to other countries, like Lebanon or Turkey, the letter detailed.

According to the letter, most reasons for deporting were absence from work, problem with the sponsor, deporting according to a court decision, working to others or expired visa or residency.

In the end, detainees expressed their feeling of sorrow and pain when they see representatives from other embassies to sort out their people’s problems, while Syrians are left to face their fate alone.
