Budget deficit precludes having new fence for Interior Ministry buildings

(Writing by George Hadad: Translation by Dani Murad)

An official document issued by regime’s ministry of interior acknowledged its “failure” to conclude a contract to repair and strengthen the fence of Masaken al-Shurta (En: Police Housing) despite the re-occurrence of tenders for 3 times and during a period of more than a year.

The relatively new document ,which goes back to late 2013, did not mention the reason for ministry’s failure, but gave hints to it , especially when noted to the massive inflation that occurred during the period that witnessed invitations to tenders to repair Al Masaken fence, located in Damascus suburb of Moadamiya .

It seems that the continuous clashes between the rebels and the Syrian regime in that area, was one of the crucial reasons behind the lack of progress with any contractor to carry out the task of repairing the fence, which has been explicitly admitted in the document.

In addition to that, the document acknowledged that the fence was demolished due to regime’s heavy army mechanisms and tanks that passed over it, and not because of the “terrorist groups” which the regime attributes all the sabotage in Syria to them.
