Al-Moussa fled his hometown in eastern Raqqa province to Turkey and from there to Britain, crossing Libya, Algeria, Italy and France.

Last April, Al-Moussa decided, as a challenge, to run for a full year on a daily basis for at least 5 km, to motivate young refugees to restart their lives and persevere despite the hardships they had experienced. Completing this challenge, he will be the first Arab athlete to run for a whole year without stopping.
