(Zaman Al Wasl)- With the outbreak of the revolution, Hilal Muhamad Al-Kin and her husband joined the rebels, demanding freedom and dignity. She lived through the 700-day siege of Homs, during which she led the demonstrations of the women of Jouret Al-Shayah, cooked for members of the Free Army on the fronts, in addition to taking guard shifts for several hours a day, and visiting and caring for the wounded in the field hospital.
When she discovered she was pregnant, she decided to have an abortion, not knowing that that this would lead to her arrest.
She had to go to Homs for the operation, using a fake ID as she was listed by the regime as an armed terrorist. However, she was discovered in the hospital and was arrested and detained in a Political Security branch, where she subjected to all sorts of violence.
Hilal has spent 66 days in the solitary in the branch in Homs, during which she was subjected to daily torture to force her to give up the names of Free Army leaders. She was later transferred to Adra Central Prison. Hilal revealed that over 1100 girls and women are detained in Adra on terrorism charges.
After two years of detention, she was released on June 24, 2017, returning to her family in Homs northern countryside. A year later, she had to leave with her family after the settlements to Kharabat Sharan in Afrin. There, she lived near the Turkish Sharan police station, she applied in a women's police training course and passed to be appointed as a security officer with the rank of lieutenant in Sharan.
