Mrs. Hiba al-Haj Ali, wife of Hosam Eddin Malas, who was sentenced in absentia for 5 years jail by the Criminal Court in Cairo, said to Zaman Alwasl: "that adjudication based on false accusation of assaulting the by passers and security forces during their demonstration in front of Syrian Embassy in Cairo in 2012."

Mrs. Malas confirmed that truth was completely the opposite as the security forces who attacked them and detained them and where badly treated in prison.

She explained that timing of the verdict was politicized, as Syrians, even children and elderly, in Egypt have been subject to illegal breaches after 30th June 2013, like detention without reason. She explained reason for that changes with the return of military ruling of the country and resuming the relationships with Syrian intelligence.

Mrs. Malas believed that sentence aimed to pressurise Syrians in Egypt and threaten them to stop them from doing any activities to benefit the Syrian revolution.

She commented on the congratulation the Syrian Coalition has sent to abdel Fattah el-Sisi for electing him saying: “that initiative is in the right direction as long as it would result in improving relationship between the opposition and the Egyptian regime, and improves Syrians’ situation in Egypt, however if the breaches against the Syrians carried on, the opposition needs to re-evaluated their decision and not apply other countries dictations at the expense of Syrians’ best interest”

The Criminal Court in Cairo has, on Tuesday 10th June, sentenced 13 Syrians 5 years of rigorous imprisonment, on charges of gathering and threatening the public peace and forcefully resisting the security forces, during their demonstration in front of the Syrian Embassy in 2012.
