(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime forces on Friday have pounded opposition areas in northern Idlib province with internationally banned weapons, rebel commander told Zaman al-Wasl.
The attacks targeted and array of villages in the Jabal al-Zawiya region.
The regime forces have also dropped parachute mines on the villages of Kansafra, Sfouhen and al-Fatira.
Last year, Human Rights Watch (HRW) accused Russia and the Syrian regime of using a "cocktail of internationally banned and indiscriminate weapons" in attacks on civilians in northwestern Syria.
Idlib province is home to 3.5 million civilians, according to the United Nations.
In its turn, the Turkish army has sent huge reinforcements over the past few days.
At least 350 trucks carrying troops and tanks entered Idlib amid warnings by Ankara to Damascus urging to respect a ceasefire deal reached month ago and to stop violations.
The Turkish army has stationed troops and weapons in more than 50 observation points in last opposition stronghold near its border.
In March, Turkish forces have set up six observation points in al-Ghassaneyah, Bidama, al-Najiyeh, and al-Zainiya, al-Misherfah and Tel Khattab, an array of villages located in the Jisr al-Shughour region.
