The Turkish army on Thursday has set up a new observation point in the southern countryside of Idlib province as Russia renews airstrikes on the last opposition stronghold.
According to Zaman al-Wasl reporter, the new army unit was stationed in the Jabal al-Zawiya region, topping the number to more than 60 as Turkish reinforcements keep pouring into Idlib region.
Russian and Turkey agreed a truce on March 6 that has largely halted the fighting but Russia resumed air strikes on Monday and Tuesday of Idlib and neighbouring Hama provinces with dozens of air strikes.
The strikes came as ground fighting left 19 regime troops and 22 jihadists dead, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
The Russian air strikes killed a civilian Tuesday, the first such fatality since a ceasefire went into force.
The raids led to the death of one civilian in the village of Balyun -- the "first to die from an air strike" since the March ceasefire, Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said.
Idlib province is home to 3.5 million civilians, according to the United Nations.
Since the ceasefire deal reached last March, the lowest death toll ever was recorded in Syria in nine years. Also, more than 110,000 displaced people have been returned home, the Syrian Response Coordinators Team said.
The nine-year-old conflict has killed more than 400,000 people and displaced 7 million.
