Riyadh al-Hasan, a member of the National Coalition has suggested on the legal committee in the Coalition to write a statement to be forwarded to the Arab League via an Arabic country or more, in which the Coalition requests the Arab League to issue a decision allowing Syrian People to move between Arabic Countries using their expired Passports. The suggestion which Zaman Alwasl obtained a copy of, considered a first step for similar attempts in European Union and United Nation, to allow Syrians use their expired passports, which Turkey is going to apply soon.
Activists blame Nazir al-Hiraki, the Coalition’s Ambassador to Qatar, for not doing any effective step in promises he gave before in regard to renewing the expired Syrian passports.
Zaman Alwasl obtained from well informed sources the comment al-Hiraki sent to the Coalition in regard to that step saying: “please allow me to remind you that we are going to renew the expired passport after a month from now, after informing 56 countries, as samples of renewing stickers have been sent, besides that we have informed the United Nation (UN), the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the European Union (EU) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). All the technical and logistic procedures besides fees have been established. The project is going to be divided into 3 stages, where the first one will target Syrian residents in Qatar, to sort out there problems, the Qatari Foreign Affair Ministry was informed and they welcomed the step and offered help”
It seems that the Coalition member is not aware of what the Coalition’s Embassy does in regard to expired passports, while the Embassy keeps delaying implementing the decision, which is really annoying and frustrating.
