List of of regime’s secret informants in the grip of Zaman Alwasl

 (Translation by Dani Murad)

After revealing the names of 267 “National Defense” and “Shabiha” formations of employees working in the heart of the Syrian capital Damascus, including their full names, jobs, ranks, national number and their exact concentrations in 3 districts of Damascus, in areas of Bab Touma, Al-A'dawi, al-Qusour, Tejarah and the airport, in addition to accusations against them of committing massacres in Darya, Hajera and al-Ḥajar al-Aswad in Damascus.

Zaman Alwasl continues to expose regime’s militias and gangs in a new breakthrough to Assad’s security system, by obtaining a new list of 1528 members of “The Popular Committees” "Shabiha" in the countryside of Lattakia, whom are given cards that entitle them to carry weapons by the intelligence Branch (223) which belongs to the Division of General Intelligence, and those forces work as “secret informants” for this branch, and their activity is distributed between Lattakia, Homs until the capital Damascus.

In this context, Zaman Alwasl had previously published more than 9 thousand names of shabiha, officially registered as "national defense" in Lattakia, which is considered the greatest breach for years to the regime of Bashar Al Assad, in addition to exposing Shabiha’s crimes against civilians in the eastern countryside of Hama - including Alawites, and the list of published names reached 16, 000 names.

However, the new list of Shabiha and informants are for people from lattakia’s suburbs, particularly Qardahah and the surrounding areas, containing their personal identifiable information that includes the full name, father and mother’s name and address, and what was noticeable to Zaman Alwasl is that all volunteers’ ages in the alternative formation of military forces range between 20 to 68 old, and are exclusively males.

The so-called “Shabiha” were accused by Syrian opponents and human rights activists of committing massacres against civilians in a lot of rebellious areas, especially the Bayda and Baniyas massacres which occurred in May 2013 in the village of Bayda and the city of Baniyas, in Tartus, and according to a UN report ; between 300 and 450 people were killed, and the massacres’ survivors testified to human rights organizations and media that it was regular troops, backed by the paramilitary National Defense Force (NDF), that entered the village and began "a murderous and hateful attack of burning, looting and killing everyone including elderlies, women, and young children”.

In this regard, Zaman Alwasl has also previously published some documents that reveal the involvement of the Ministry of Interior in recruiting informants to monitor the political and social activity in the country.

Note:

Zaman Alwasl would like to point out that there has been an obvious error in the document, which is the replacement of the letter “L” to “M” in many names, as in "Ami" which should be "Ali", but preferred to publish the document as it is to preserve its credibility, and to prevent any change in the original document.
