Tripoli's hospitals to halt dialysis for Syrian refugees by August

(Translation by Yusra Ahmed)

Activists reported about some hospitals’ directors in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli that government’s hospitals will cease admitting Syrian patients of renal failure to have renal dialysis, starting August 2014 without showing reasons.

Activists revealed that 25 Syrian patients in Tripoli need renal dialysis 3 times weekly, and they are under risk of death if they did not have the dialysis for more than 3 consecutive times.

Activists accused the UNHCR in Lebanon for not giving the matter enough interest as they besides the Coalition’s offices are busy in solving their internal conflicts. Syrian refugees in Lebanon exceeded a million, most of them in Tripoli, Bekaa valley including Irsal and other areas. UNHCR covers the cost of treatment for the majority of Syrians in countries they moved to.
