Syrian health authorities on Saturday received medical assistance to fight the Covid-19 pandemic from the World Health Organization (WHO).
'A delivery note was signed at the International Airport of Damascus for 8.8 tons of medicines, supplies and medical equipment offered by the WHO to fight Covid-19,' local media reported.
A joint statement from the Syrian Health Ministry and the WHO noted that the assistance is 550,000-dollar worth and will reinforce the response from the country's health institutions to the pandemic.
Syria has received several shipments of medical supplies from Iran, Russia, China and India. At the same time, its Government has denounced the tightening of the blockade imposed by the United States and the European Union, which affects the country's ability and efforts to provide medical services to its citizens.
