The Syrian Response Coordinators group released a summary of the most prominent events in Syria, during ten years of the humanitarian crisis since the outbreak of the revolution.
The team stated that, "The number of internally displaced Syrians reached 6.9 million, of whom 1.9 million displaced people living in camps and shelter centers, in addition to 6.5 million refugees in countries of asylum.
“More than 41% of schools in Syria were destroyed with more than 2.5 million children dropping out of education during the past ten years.”
The team also pointed out that, "more than 75% of the hospitals and clinics in Syria are either completely or partially destroyed or out of service due ground or air bombing,” explaining that "67% of the infrastructure and vital projects were destroyed."
Syrian economy suffered a loss of over 500 billion US dollars, with the overall costs of basic materials rising up to 120 times the normal prices by the end of 2020. In addition, domestic currency has suffering a dramatic collapse, halving 91 times in value since the beginning of 2011.
According to the statement, 84.3% of Syrians are at risk of poverty, of whom 3.1 million people who have reached the stage of famine.
More than 1.8 million civilian casualties were the result of military operations by Assad's forces, Russia and Iran, with 230,000 people having conflict-related disabilities.
