An 8-year-old Syrian girl was left behind at the police station in the Dutch town of Hoofddorp on Thursday morning.
She walked into the building and grabbed a copy of her passport from her backpack at the counter.
The police immediately called in an interpreter and informed her that they will provide shelter for her. The girl was very calm and didn't seem to panic.
The police suspect that she was deliberately left behind and sent to the station, presumably from the Graan voor Visch district behind it.
The Aliens Police and NIDOS, an organization focused on youth protection for young people, will provide shelter with a foster family.
