(Zaman Alwasl)- As the Islamic State and al-Nusra Front, militant groups, demanding a swap of 29 Lebanese hostages for their prisoners being held in Lebanon, four names listed by IS may postpone the deal, Lebanese source told Zaman Alwasl.
On 27 August 2013, Lebanese security arrested 4 Syrian rebels who were monitoring bases affiliated to Hezbollah militia in Lebanon for the purpose of carrying out bombing. IS has demanded release of those four, source said. "And that what will complicate things as this case is related to Hezbollah," he added.
In turn, Lebanese army has demanded the immediate, and unconditional, release of 15 soldiers and 14 police officers.
On Sunday, four soldiers and a police officer kidnapped in Arsal, east Lebanon nearly a month ago have been freed by al-Nusra Front, AFP said.
The men were taken on August 2 during a fierce battle between the Lebanese army and fighters who had crossed the border from Syria.
The freeing of the men happened several hours after a video was released showing the beheading apparently of a Lebanese soldier by the Islamic State group, which has carried out attacks in Syria and Iraq and beheaded US journalist James Foley this month. (With AFP)
