A Syrian refugee was shot dead by a Lebanese robbery gang in the Central Bekaa Valley, one of the victim’s relatives told Zaman al-Wasl Tuesday.
The gang pretended to be security officers when they broke into his house in al-Omariya town on Sunday but soon a quarrel erupted, and the gang opened fire on Mustafa Ali, owner of the house, and his son Ashraf.
Ali passed away of wounds sustained on Tuesday while the son is in a stable condition.
Lebanon, a country of 6 million people, is home to 1.5 million Syrians who fled the now decade-old civil war in their country. They often live in squalid camps and shoddy homes.
The Syrian conflict has claimed 494,438 lives and has displaced 13,2 million people since it erupted in March 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-regime protests
