A house explosion in the Turkish state of Konya left 6 Syrians wounded who were storing and collecting chemicals, according to the Turkish Haberle newspaper.
The accident occurred in the basement of a house in Tatlıcak district, Konya state, on Wednesday evening, due to the presence of chemicals that were illegally stored.
Ambulances transported the six injured people as a result of the explosion to Konya State Hospital and their condition is good. The Turkish chemical teams said that the stored chemical was low-concentration "peroxide", and police teams started an investigation into the accident.
The Turkish Dogan Agency (DHA) broadcast a video from inside the basement, seen by Zaman Al-Wasl, showing the materials that were stored, including gallons of chemicals and huge tanks placed on top of each other without observing safety conditions.
Turkey already hosts some 3.7 million Syrian refugees, the largest refugee population in the world, and Erdogan said it was taking steps with some difficulty to prevent another wave from crossing its border.
The Syrian conflict has claimed 500,000 lives and has displaced 13,2 million people since it erupted in March 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-regime protests.
