Assad's regime continues to kill and arrest Journalists Writers


Syrian intelligence had killed a poet and dentist, Eyad Shaheen, under torture, two days after his arrest, Syrian activists said,

The activists circulated that Shaheen was arrested on Monday according to his political views against the Assad regime. As the habit, phone call from Security to tell that the prisoner is dead. The family should sign a paper says that 'dead man' passed away according to health problems not Torture.

 In related context, Counter-Terrorist court has freed Journalist Shaza al-Madad  after 8 months of detention.

The press freedom organization reports the 1 November arrest of following a summons to appear at the offices of the domestic intelligence agency. She did not emerge publicly from the encounter.

Al-Madad has worked for several private media companies including Baladna, the Al-Watan daily and the Kolona Shorakaa and Damascus Post news websites. She had previously been summoned by the intelligence services. The first time followed her return from the United States, where she had participated in a broadcast on journalists’ work around the world. She had also been arrested after resigning from the Damascus Post in a dispute with editors over coverage of the Syrian conflict.
