Hasakah’s main bakery returned to operate on Friday after militants of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) allowed flour and fuel to enter the regime-controlled areas inside the cities of Al-Hasakah and Qamishli in northeastern Syria.
Al-Hasakah Governor Ghassan Khalil, after inaugurating a new bakery in "Jarmuz", south of Qamishli, with the support of the United Nations Development Program, said: The imposed siege will be lifted and the situation will return to normal.
And the governorate's press office published that after a twenty-day hiatus as a result of the siege, the main bakery in Hasaka began in the early morning producing bread and distributing it to the accredited after the arrival of 40 tons of flour after midnight.
In this context, the checkpoints set by the Kurdish internal security forces "Asayiş" were opened at the entrances to the city and the diesel trucks used for generators (amperes) to enter, which had also stopped working due to the scarcity of fuel.
The agreement came after negotiations that led to the restoration of matters to their previous status in stages:
Lifting the siege on the centers of the two cities, Al-Hasakah and Qamishli, and opening a number of roads that were closed by "Asayiş" during the last period in the vicinity of the two cities' centers and removing armed manifestations.
Also, allowing entry of foodstuffs, flour and fuels and returning the Qamishli government bakery to the administration of the regime's government.
Asayiş pretexted weeks ago to besiege the checkpoints of the Fourth Division of the regime forces for the "Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo, preventing the entry of flour and fuel into bakeries in Hasaka and Qamishli within regime-controlled areas.
