Assad's oil ministry says 'it will monitor fuel by drop'

The Syrian oil ministry intends to besiege the traffickers of fuel on the black market through several measures, including the installation of GPS, and others related to the installation of sensors on the fuel tanks of the petrol stations in a way that allows it to monitor and track "every drop that comes out of the gas stations," the regime’s media reported.

The minister of oil and mineral resources Bassam Tohme revealed the first phase of the project to provide a tracking service for public vehicles in Syria, which includes 100 vehicles belonging to the Damascus province as a first experimental phase, in order to show the project’s readiness for wide application after all observations were avoided.

The minister said that his fuel control project aims to combat corruption and theft of subsidized gasoline and diesel on the black market at the expense of citizens who suffer great difficulties in transportation, he said.

The project will provide a tracking service to monitor government and private vehicles, which gives the authorities the possibility to ensure the implementation of plans and tracks, according to the minister.

"This will put a permanent end to the problem of trading in public transportation allocations," according to the ministry.
