A Palestinian monitoring group called on the international community and human rights organizations to provide international protection for Palestinian-Syrian refugees, legally and physically.
The call of Action Group for Palestinians of Syria comes in conjunction with International Human Rights Day, and in light of the serious physical and legal violations committed against them in Syria by the Palestinian-Syrian refugees, in addition to the thousands of wounded who have been injured for various reasons since the start of the war.
The AGPS demanded the rights groups, as stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to pressure the Syrian regime to release all Syrian and Palestinian detainees from its prisons.
The London-based human rights group confirmed that it documented the data of 4121 Palestinian refugees who died due to bombing, siege, clashes, torture and drowning during attempts to flee the war in Syria, in addition to more than 3000 cases of arrest and enforced disappearance. On the legal level, the Working Group indicated that the Palestinian-Syrian refugee is still prohibited from entering most Arab, Islamic, and Western countries except under impossible conditions, which are considered a flagrant violation of basic rights stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The Action Group called on the international community, with all its institutions, to intervene urgently and quickly to stop the violations against the Palestinian-Syrian refugees who fled Syria in search of security and salvation from the danger that threatens their lives, and the settlement of their legal status and respect for their humanity and dignity.
The rights monitoring group called on the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in particular to play the role required of it in providing physical and legal protection to the Palestinians of Syria, and supporting the right of Palestinian refugees to move, reside and work in the countries to which their fate has devolved.
