Tribal dispute renews in Raqqa countryside, men set houses on fire

A number of young men set fire to a number of houses in the countryside of Raqqa province, northeastern Syria, due to previous clan fighting, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries.

Local sources told Zaman al-Wasl that on Saturday, a group of armed youths from the Al-Afadla tribe burned more than ten homes belonging to the al-Jamasa clan and deported a number of families for the fourth time in a row in the village of Hamra Blasim in the eastern countryside of Raqqa.

Last April, eight people were killed, and more than 20 others were injured, as a result of violent clashes between the Al-Madlej clan of the Al-Afadla tribe, and the Al-Jamasa clan of the Al-Bushaban tribe, in the village of Al-Hamrat, east of Raqqa.

The young man, Omar Hussein Al-Hamad, was killed, on Wednesday night, as a result of the outbreak of clan fighting, claiming revenge, between two families in the town of Al-Harijiyeh, in the countryside of Deir Ezzor.
