Assad promotes 350 officers in Defense, Interior ministries

The Syrian regime’s Interior Ministry issued a list of promotions and appointments for the ministry's officers, with a number of officers being appointed to leadership positions.

The Ministry of Defense also promoted and appointed a number of its officers, as Brigadier General Asif Al-Daker was promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed as Commander of the Military Police.

Brigadier General Kamal Hassan was also promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed Deputy Head of the Military Intelligence Division, and Major General Riyad Abbas was transferred to the General Headquarters.

The promotions included the appointment of Major General Ibrahim Al-Waari as commander of the southern region, and the appointment of Major General Malik Ali Habib, deputy director of Air Force Intelligence.

Promotions and transfers of army officers are approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the regime's Armed Forces, Bashar Al-Assad. The promotions are issued twice a year, on the first of January and the first of July.

Eleven officers were promoted to the rank of major general, including Youssef Ramadan, Mudar Haider, Akram Ibrahim Suleiman, Adel Hassan Suleiman, Abdul-Baqi Al-Afara, Talal Mohammad Al-Khatib, Mazen Abdullah Kanafani, Nidal Jreij, Abdulrahman Fati Abdulrahman, Salim Zaid Abu Hassoun and Rafiq Abu Hussein.

The promotions included 78 colonels, 115 lieutenant colonels, 139 majors, 20 captains, the extension of 14 officers, the dismissal of 16 officers, and the transfer of a number of dismissed officers to investigation.
