June witnessed a sharp increase in arrests by regime forces in the southern province of Daraa and a continuation of kidnappings and assassinations, according to the Horan Free League.
In its monthly report, the League recorded the killing of 38 people in Daraa, including two women and a child.
The local monitoring group documented the death of one person in the regime’s prisons who was arrested following the security settlement agreement that was signed in mid-2018, and the shooting death of two civilians after they were kidnapped.
One person was also killed by gunfire from a checkpoint belonging to the Eighth Brigade, which targeted his car after he refused to stop east of Daraa.
A woman was killed by gunfire, and a child was killed by a hand grenade, following two separate assassinations in Daraa, whose relatives were targeted in those operations.
The Violations Documentation Office in the League counted 31 assassination attempts and operations, which resulted in the death of 30 people, the injury of 12 others, and 4 survivors of the assassination attempts.
Concerning the distribution of the assassination dead, 10 people (classified as civilians) were killed, distributed as follows: a woman, and 5 people who had never belonged to any military entity, including one person accused of working in drug trafficking and a person who came from outside Daraa.
In addition to 4 former members of the Free Army who, after the settlement, did not join any military entity, including two persons who are accused of working in the drug trade.
While 3 members of a local group affiliated with the Air Force Intelligence Branch, an armed member cooperating with the State Security Branch, and 5 former members of the Free Army, including a leader, were killed, two of them worked in the ranks of the Eighth Brigade, and one worked as a leader of a group affiliated with the Military Security Branch, and a collaborator with ISIS, and a member of an armed group engaged in drug trafficking and banditry.
Also, one member of the regime forces was killed as a result of targeting a military site by Turkish drones in the countryside of Aleppo (he hails from Daraa).
With regard to arrests, the office documented during the month of June the arrest of 29 people by the regime forces and 7 people by the Eighth Brigade in Daraa, 8 of whom were released during the same month.
